The Renewable energy picture in Oregon:

What is being done and what can we do now?
Next Chapter Meeting:
Tuesday, March 16, 6:30 – 8 pm.

We're kicking off a series of events with speaker Rob Del Mar, Central Oregon Field Analyst, who will give us a view of how the ODOE and the PUC/Legislature are addressing the development of renewable energy in Oregon. Rob will leave us with some opportunities which we will follow up over the next month or two. The goal in this speaker series is to line up some actions we can take as a Climate Reality Chapter, that are aligned with state policy as we work towards meeting goals to get off fossil fuels.

We will also have our Chapter and Committee updates. Trainings, elections and more. Please join us!

February Cook and Serve!

Monday, February 22, 5:30 pm

In this Cook & Serve event, Chef Jesse Zamora Manager of The Raven Corps' "Growing Beyond the Recipe", will demonstrate how to make vegan Chorizo and Papas. This opportunity is organized by Ashwin Prabhu, a member of the Climate-Friendly Food Committee of the Climate Reality Project's Portland Chapter.

Watch this cooking demo on Zoom at 5:30pm on Monday, February 22. If you want to cook along with Jesse, register and you will receive these delicious and healthy recipes.

Then, on Saturday, February 27, you can join others cooking at home to make vegan Mexican food for 60 people experiencing homelessness who are staying at the Walnut Park Shelter. You can sign up here. If you don't want to cook, you could help deliver what others cook to the shelter. Info about the Walnut Park Shelter is here.

You can make a lot or a little. If you want to contribute, but can't make the featured recipe or don't want to cook, Ashwin can help you identify what you can make (like a side dish or tortillas, for example).

If these dates won't work for you, Climate Reality will record the demo, which you can see on Climate Reality's YouTube channel. You are also encouraged to make the dishes for your family at home!

This training will be different than the global training as it will focus on the US. If you have already trained, consider being a mentor! Apply here now to be a mentor.

Also, please share this with others who may be interested!

Join the Leadership Team!

We will be sending out details on the elections and holding our Chapter elections soon.

We are looking for people interested in taking on a leadership role in our chapter. The commitment is to attend our virtual leadership meetings (once a month) to help plan our bimonthly (every other month) Chapter meetings, organize events, help with strategic planning in December, and keep our chapter growing and thriving. There will also be time spent outside of the meeting working on specific projects, but that is flexible for each individual. If you have one hour a week to volunteer, please consider joining us!

We will announce specific roles and descriptions at our next Chapter meeting and in an upcoming newsletter.

Anyone who is a chapter member is eligible to run. The chapter chair or chapter co-chair position is the only role that must be filled by a trained Climate Reality Leader. If you have already filled out the interest form below, we will be in touch soon!

Volunteer on specific projects

If you aren't ready to make a commitment to the Leadership Team but have some skills or time to offer, please let us know if you are able to help with one of these projects. Please email us at climaterealityportland@gmail.com and we will work with you!
