Kelsey Juliana speaking to our Chapter in Portland.

We had an excellent June meeting at TaborSpace with Kelsey Juliana, from Juliana v U.S., the namesake of the lawsuit featuring 21 youth suing the government as a constitutional rights violation case.

Kelsey speaks about sacrifice, fear, guilt, hope, action and finding our own unique place in the biggest crisis we now face. We learned how adults allies can support youth, and how youth can find their own voice.

We were very fortunate to have Nick Brown of Quick Hit Record media professionally videotaped this interview for us. He has allowed us to share it, please do watch the video and share.

We had over 130 people attend, including youth climate groups: Sunrise Movement PDX, Portland Youth Climate Council, and Raven Corps. Besides our own Climate Reality booth, and co-sponsor City Club of Portland, we had CCL PDX, 350 PDX, and Youth v Gov / Our Children's Trust table at the event.

Liv Brumfield read a statement of support from Representative Earl Blumenauer before the interview. Lee van der Voo, who is an award-winning investigative journalist focused on the youth climate movement kept the questions coming, and Kelsey Juliana herself was very engaging and encouraged youth to come to the stage and speak.
