PYCC speaking up for Portland's trees!

Do you value Portland’s trees? Come join the Portland Youth Climate Council (PYCC) tomorrow, on September 11th to address weaknesses in the Portland Tree Code!

If you or I want to cut down a tree, we must pay a fee to acquire a permit. Owners of commercial and industrial land do not. That means they are allowed - by the City - to cut down trees whenever they want without protection for those trees. We will be asking the city to change this.

We will also be addressing an amendment adopted in 2016 that puts higher protections on older trees. Unfortunately, this amendment is set to expire (or “sunset”) in December of this year. We want the city to continue this protection indefinitely.

Please join PYCC in support of our testimony during the public comment period. Spread the word because individually we are just trees, but together we can make a forest!

The city gives us a 3 min slot to speak promptly at 9:30 am, so please arrive early. The trees need you! WEAR GREEN! See details on Facebook too and share.
