Carbon Removal and Climate Communication
Climate Reality Leader Raz Mason co-founder and executive director of the CO2 Foundation will be speaking about what her organization is doing on CO2 removal, and how to effectively communicate information on extreme weather and climate change in ways that empower people to work together – from across the political spectrum and across the urban-rural divide.

Raz is an educator in mathematics and science; an interfaith hospital chaplain, and a neuroscience-informed resilience trainer. She has a mathematics degree from Bryn Mawr College, a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Seattle University, and a master’s degree in divinity from Harvard Divinity School. Raz has worked as a long-haul truck driver and grew up in Eastern Oregon. These experiences strengthened her commitment to rural, working-class communities.

Sustainability in Architecture and Materials
Sustainability is at the core of our hosts YGH Architecture firm and has informed their work
since its inception in 1964.

Yukari Kubo, Design Professional Associate AIA at Yost Grube Hall Architecture will be presenting on sustainability in architecture. She will be speaking about YGH's projects to fight embodied carbon, make more sustainable material choices, and why it is important to think about the embodied carbon over operational carbon right now.
|
Yukari’s passion for architecture lies in the intersection of sustainability, climate change, social equity, and design. She believes that through the integration of new and old technologies and design strategies we can create healing spaces that promote our connection to the ecological systems and can help change people’s habits to live more sustainably.
