Urgent Climate Action Needed on SB1530!
From our friends at MCAT: An exciting week ahead in Salem. All of your letters and testimony have made a difference for cap and invest. Now is the time to have an even bigger presence in Salem.

- SB1530 will be heard in the Ways and Means Committee on February 24th at 9 AM, Hearing Room F. Let's show our strength by filling the hearing room and overflow.
- The parallel bill, HB4167 has also been referred to Ways and Means. The hearing date is not set.
This is a great time for more emails and letters. Message: Climate change is an emergency. SB1530 (HB4167) is a good start. The cap reduces dangerous pollution. Big polluters will pay their share. The investment in Oregon will go to local communities and benefit rural Oregon and others hardest hit by climate change.

- Email and letters to your Senator and Representative. Please also schedule in-person meetings with them next week.
- Letters to the editor about the bill.
- Countering negative messages. MCAT has developed a list, email them for more info.

- If you are in a District that walked out last year, please also consider a letter to the editor about the importance of legislators staying at work and doing their job.

We are excited to announce we have found a new regular meeting place! Oregon Public House is allowing us to use their Community Room for our monthly meetings. This will also give us the opportunity to order food and drinks. They have vegan options available too. RSVP and share the word.

Our March meeting will be a more relaxed event with hearing from the newly-returned Climate Leaders who will have just completed the Las Vegas Training! We will also be sharing what our various leaders are doing for local climate action, including an update on the Clean Energy Jobs Bill, SB1530.

Lastly, for those of you who would like to join the Faces of Climate Change movement that we talked about at our last meeting, we will have a space for that to happen there. Or you can add your voice from your own home.
