Our hearts go out to the victims of Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Milton. Our hearts go out to the victims of the fires here in Oregon. Our hearts go out to all the victims of the devastating typhoons, floods, droughts, and fires across the world…  Really, our hearts go out to the victims of the fossil fuel industry who have been obfuscating what they knew about climate change and obstructing good policy for decades.

Don’t let people tell you “now is not the time to talk about climate change.”

If talk was all we did, that would be true: but we can act. We can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can support the immediate needs of people impacted by disasters, and support strategies for resilience and adaptation, and work to end our reliance on polluting combustion fuels. In fact, in doing that, we follow the lead of what many of those most impacted are calling for.

To quote the Oregon Just Transition Alliance, “Our crises transcend all boundaries and borders. So must our solutions… [Let’s] work collectively for a just economy and the liberation of all living beings.”
